Jo Clifford at Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre

Posted by Babs Melville

Ok, I must plug Jo Clifford’s new play The Tree of Knowledge. The show runs at the Traverse throughout December, and tickets cost £11 (£6 concession). This is a slightly odd plug on my part: I’ve never seen or read any of her plays. But I heard her perform poetry during the West Port Book Festival, and she was a paragon of vivacity. I swear: if this play is rubbish, I’ll eat my hat, your hat, and everyone’s shoes.

Write Now Conference

The second annual Write Now Conference will take place on the 9th and 10th of March 2012. Scholars, postgrads and professionals interested in creative writing are invited to submit proposals for critical or practice based presentations and even three-person panels.

This is part of Glasgow’s book festival Aye Write! There’re no set themes or topics: all they are interested in is passion and knowledge. So if you know a thing or two about writing, it’s well worth looking into.

They’re also looking for readings of pieces no more than 6mins long as part of a performance event.

Happy microphones

So, it’s the middle of the night, which I consider the best time to catch up with admin (sleep can wait). I nearly used the following image in a press release:

Then I got distracted by the cable, which is just wrong. Then I saw the marigolds. I’m going to have nightmares featuring animate, smiling microphones doing the dishes, aren’t I?
